The Conference on Policy Process Research (COPPR) is focused on advancing policy process research through a wide range of theoretical and methodological approaches.
COPPR offers six types of sessions.
- Suggest a Pre Conference Workshop: These are half-day or full-day sessions focused on a specific theme, such as a theory or method. They take place the day before the COPPR Conference, on January 20, 2026. Please add a short description (max. 300 words) of the workshop’s topic, goals, and relevance to the target audience, plus a short outline of the workshop structure in the abstract field.
- Suggest a Paper for a Traditional Panel (90 min): Traditional panels feature 3-5 well-developed papers and two chairs to support both in-person and virtual participants. The chairs and presenters may choose to include one or two discussants or opt for structured peer feedback among panelists. Please limit your abstract to 250 words.
- Suggest a Paper for a Workshop Draft Panel (90 min): Similar to traditional panels, but focused on early-stage papers. These also feature 3-5 draft papers and/or presentations. Workshop panels give less time to presentations and more time for discussion and idea development. These panels also have two chairs, and participants can structure the session to best support feedback and interactions. Please limit your abstract to 250 words.
- Suggest a Roundtable (90 min): A structured, interactive session where a small group of participants discuss a specific topic with a facilitator. Audience engagement is central to the format. Please add the facilitator as roundtable chair and the suggested participants. Please limit your abstract to 250 words.
- Suggest an Open Session (90 min): A flexible format for scholars to propose creative session ideas that support the COPPR community and advance its mission. All proposals are welcome. Please include in the abstract the topic, format, goals, relevance to COPPR, and short outline. Please limit your abstract to 250 words.
- Suggest a Panel (90 min): You may also suggest a panel of a collection of papers centered around a theme. Suggested panels are restricted to one per person, and we ask to limit panel size to 3-4 papers. Please suggest the title, an abstract, and add the suggested panel chair and discussant (if applicable). Please limit the abstract to 250 words. Also note that COPPR may add an additional thematic paper to a panel if it is a strong fit and was submitted as an individual paper.
COPPR aims to foster integration and community-building. To support this goal, COPPR does not accept pre-formed panel submissions consisting of a collection of papers. Instead, individuals may submit one suggested panel, which the Program Committee will consider when organizing sessions. All accepted papers will be grouped into traditional and workshop panels around shared themes – such as a specific theory or common topic that cuts across theories. This approach helps expand and diversify COPPR networks while encouraging new connections and conversations. The Program Committee will also assign co-chairs to all panels.
