Evaluation Criteria for COPPR Submissions

The Program Committee will review all submissions to COPPR. Each submission that passes the minimum bar should be evaluated using the following dimensions. Those submitting a paper, roundtable, open session, or pre-conference workshop should consider the following evaluation criteria that the Program Committee will ask.

  1. Fit with COPPR
    • Does the submission engage with policy process theories or concepts (old, new, emerging) or in developing relevant methods?
    • Does it demonstrate potential for productive scholarly exchange?
    • Do the keywords capture the essence of the submission to help place the submission into a panel?
  2. Clarity and Coherence
    • Is the research question, argument, or purpose clear?
    • Are the methods or approach intelligible?
  3. Developmental Stage and Readiness
    • For a Traditional Panel paper, is the submission sufficiently developed to support a panel discussion?
    • For a Workshop Panel paper, does it show a clear direction and capacity for refinement?
    • If the submission is already published as an article, book, or book chapter it will not be accepted on a panel.
  4. Contribution and Interest
    • Does the submission offer something of potential interest to the policy process community?
    • Is it theoretically, methodologically, or substantively engaging?
